Meet the Founder
Joe Diacheysn, LCSW
Former VA Hospital Clinician
SGT, U.S. Army Veteran
I’m Joe Diacheysn, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and an Army veteran. My journey into trauma therapy started long before I had the credentials — it began with my own lived experiences in the military, witnessing the weight many carry after combat, loss, or crisis.
After my service, I worked at the VA hospital,
providing therapy to veterans struggling with PTSD,
moral injury, depression, and anxiety. The common
thread? They didn’t just need a therapist — they
needed someone who understood.
Today, in my private practice, I offer that same depth
of understanding to anyone dealing with trauma —
whether from military service, childhood,
relationships, or major life events. I use evidence-
based approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy
(CBT) and trauma-informed care to help clients
process, heal, and rebuild.
The name Stone and Sun is deeply personal. It draws
from the Armenian Khachkar - stone - carved crosses
that stand as symbols of resilience, memory, and
faith. As an Armenian American, I carry with me the
strength of a people who have endured and risen.
That spirit is woven into the work I do: helping
others rebuild, recover, and reclaim their light.
A Mission Rooted in Service
MISSION:
At Stone & Sun Counseling, we believe healing is both a grounded and transformative journey. Inspired by the resilience of Armenian khachkars and the warmth of the sun, our practice provides a safe and supportive space for those navigating trauma, PTSD, and life’s deepest wounds. Like stone, we help my clients rediscover their strength. Like the sun, we offer warmth, light, and the hope of renewal. Every story matters. Every journey is honored.
VISION:
At Stone and Sun, we envision a world where individuals impacted by trauma, anxiety, and PTSD are empowered to reclaim their lives with strength, clarity, and self-compassion. Through evidence-based care, deep empathy, and culturally attuned support, we strive to create a healing space where every person feels seen, heard, and capable of lasting transformation.
Why Stone and Sun?
The “Stone” honors the enduring strength of Armenian khachkars—intricately carved stone crosses that have stood for centuries as symbols of faith, memory, and survival. Like these stones, I believe healing is a grounded process—one rooted in strength, history, and the ability to endure.
The “Sun” represents warmth, renewal, and transformation. In many cultures, including Armenian tradition, the sun is a symbol of life, clarity, and growth. It reflects the healing journey—illuminating what was once hidden, nurturing new growth, and restoring balance and vitality.
Together, Stone and Sun speaks to the heart of trauma recovery: building a solid foundation (stone) while gently fostering growth and hope (sun). My work is grounded, yet life-giving— rooted in strength, guided by light.
As a veteran and a trauma survivor myself, I know what it’s like to carry invisible wounds. I also know how powerful it can be to sit with someone who truly sees you—not just your symptoms, but your story.
This practice is built on the belief that healing doesn’t have to happen in isolation. Whether you’re facing trauma, stress, or just feeling stuck, my role is to help you feel supported, understood, and equipped to move forward.
